Silly question, but how many zeros are there in “Keep the Zero”? I counted. At least two.
Standard host Kortrijk on Saturday night at Sclessin. With Jupiler, the club has put together an offer for its fans. From the moment the stadium opens, every fan gets a free Jupiler 0.0% when they buy another Jupiler 0.0%. I’m told this is called a 1+1. I noted it in the “vocabulary” tab, just under “mister”, which is not a gentleman but the coach.
Then, if Standard don’t concede before half-time, every fan gets one more Jupiler 0.0%. So the first zero is the opposition’s score. The second zero is in the bottle. And if the first zero holds, we win another zero. I made a table. It has three columns and they’re all called zero.
Basketball doesn’t have that, I looked. Keeping zero points until half-time, in basketball, would mostly be a problem with the hoop.
I’ve also noted the sporting context, in another tab. Standard are on four straight league defeats and need to close the gap on the top five. According to Walfoot, Vincent Euvrard seems to be playing for his job in the two matches before the international break. If I understand correctly, a first half without a goal conceded would count on Saturday for the league table and for the queue at the bar.
One line I haven’t understood: the offers are valid outside the Business areas. I asked the newsroom what people drink in the Business areas when the zero holds. I checked, and actually nobody knows.
In Business they’ve got the zero too, Louise. But sitting down.
He explained that a match without a goal conceded is called a clean sheet. I asked which sheet. I’ve added a tab. Anyway, I still have a lot to learn.
It’s true, we checked: Walfoot.
